A hospital, not a clinic with a rented theatre

Clínica Fontana is the only hospital in the Valencia region dedicated solely to plastic and aesthetic surgery, and it is registered as such by the regional health authority. Everything happens under one roof, in a historic building in the centre of the city.

  • Two operating theatres with recovery rooms and treatment rooms
  • Private suites for the nights you spend in hospital
  • Our own team of plastic surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses
  • Medical cover 24 hours a day, including an emergency line for patients

Registered with the Conselleria de Sanitat of the Generalitat Valenciana as a single-specialty plastic surgery hospital, no. 73 (Urdiel, S.A.).

From your first message to your flight home

One person at the hospital coordinates your case in English, so you always know who to ask.

You talk to the surgeon who would operate on you, show what you would like to change and get an honest opinion on what is possible.

  2. A closed quote

You receive a written plan and a closed, itemised price. Nothing is booked until you have read it and asked every question.

  3. Travel and hotel

We agree the dates with you and book one of our partner hotels near the hospital at a special rate.

  4. Your surgery

Pre-operative checks, the operation and your first hours of recovery all take place in the hospital, with your surgeon on hand.

  5. Recovery and follow-up

You rest in Valencia until your surgeon says you can fly. Your later check-ups can be done by video call.

Plastic surgeons operating in one of the theatres of Hospital Clínica Fontana

The same surgery, at a Spanish price

Plastic surgery in Spain usually costs considerably less than in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland or the Nordic countries. The reason is the cost of running a hospital here, not a lower standard: Spanish plastic surgeons train for five years as hospital residents after medical school, and hospitals are inspected and licensed by the health authority.

After your video consultation you receive a closed quote: you will know the full amount, and exactly what it includes, before you book a flight.

Plastic surgery procedures

These are the operations international patients ask us about most. If yours is not listed, ask: the hospital covers the whole of plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

Mia Femtech: breast augmentation in 15 minutes

Mia Femtech is a minimally invasive technique for a proportionate, discreet increase of up to two cup sizes. It is performed by surgeons certified by Mia, and Clínica Fontana is one of the centres that offers it in Spain.

15 minutesis how long the procedure takes
No general anaestheticlocal anaesthesia and sedation
The next dayyou are back to normal life
  • No visible scar on the breast: the implant is placed through a small incision hidden in the armpit
  • No hospital stay: you walk out the same day and sleep at your hotel
  • A natural result: the implant is shaped to your anatomy, for a proportionate and discreet change

For a patient travelling from abroad, that changes the trip: there is no hospital stay and no long convalescence to plan around. Your surgeon will tell you when you can return to sport and when you can fly.

Would you rather have a conventional implant placed with a gentler technique? Preservé breast augmentation at Clínica Fontana has its own page in English.

Not every patient is a candidate; that is decided at the consultation. Published evidence: three-year results of a 100-patient prospective study of Mia Femtech (Aesthetic Surgery Journal, 2026).

Surgical team of the lipedema unit at Clínica Fontana during an operation

A unit dedicated to lipedema

Lipedema is a chronic disease of the fatty tissue that mainly affects women: legs, and sometimes arms, that are painful, bruise easily and do not respond to diet or exercise. It is estimated to affect between 8 and 12% of women, and many spend years without a diagnosis.

Our lipedema unit is led by Dr Hugo Esteban Espinosa, plastic surgeon. It covers the whole path: diagnosis and staging, conservative treatment, and lipedema-specific liposuction when surgery is indicated, planned in stages when more than one area needs treating.

  • Diagnosis comes first: surgery is only proposed once lipedema has been confirmed and staged
  • Surgery in a hospital, with anaesthetists on the team and medical cover 24 hours a day
  • The first consultation is free, and your follow-up continues by video once you are home

The surgeons you will meet

All are specialists in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery and members of the Spanish Society of Plastic Surgery (SECPRE). Their registration numbers are public and appear on their profiles.

Valencia is a good place to recover

Spain’s third-largest city is flat, walkable and bright, with the sea a short tram ride from the centre. It is an easy place to spend the quiet days after an operation.

Some 300 days of sunshine a year

Mild winters and long springs and autumns: you can sit on a terrace in February.

Easy to reach

Direct flights from most European cities. The airport is about 20 minutes from the hospital by taxi or metro, and Madrid is under two hours away by high-speed train.

A hospital in the very centre

We are on Calle Alicante, beside the North Station and a few minutes’ walk from the old town, the Central Market and the Silk Exchange, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Green and by the sea

Nine kilometres of gardens in the old Turia riverbed lead to the City of Arts and Sciences, and the city beaches are a few stops away.

The home of paella

Valencian food is a reason to come in itself, and the rice fields and lagoon of the Albufera are half an hour from the centre.

Questions patients from abroad ask

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The first consultation costs nothing and carries no obligation. For patients abroad it is held by video call with the surgeon who would operate on you.

Can I do everything in English?

Yes. Your video consultation, your quote and your stay are handled in English, and one person at the hospital coordinates your case from the first message.

How long do I need to stay in Valencia?

It depends on the operation. A Mia Femtech procedure needs a short stay; larger operations need more days before you can fly. Your surgeon gives you the exact plan at the consultation, and we organise your check-ups around it.

What does the quote include?

Your quote is closed and itemised, so you see exactly what is included before booking anything. If something is not covered, it is written down too.

What happens once I am back home?

Your surgeon follows your recovery by video call, and the hospital has a 24-hour line for patients if anything worries you.

Is it safe to have surgery abroad?

The questions to ask are the same as at home: who operates, where, and what happens if something needs attention. Here the answers are a board-certified plastic surgeon, a licensed hospital with 24-hour medical cover, and a team that stays in touch after you leave.
